The Scotsman

Trump card

-

It is quite clear to me why the tariff was placed on Scots whisky by the US administration as part of the Airbus sanctions, although the “sinners” were the UK Government subsidies and a factory in Wales producing wings for Airbus.

Donald Trump does not like Nicola Sturgeon and her antics against him in the footsteps of Salmond. This anti-trump campaign is still ongoing and strongly supported by The Scotsman through the editorial and several writers. Barely a day goes past without an anti-trump article. I guess that all this gets reported back to Washington through the embassy. That is also why the sanctions have been extended.

It is so obvious, but nobody dares to declare it for fear of the Scottish Government.

Rule number one for a Scottish First Minister is be on the best possible terms with the President of the United States, whoever he or she is. The door would be open to her in the right circumstances since he is half-scottish but that does not seem to seep into the brain of the sitting incumbent.
