Crash victim families ‘devastated’

The families of two men who died following a crash that left two others critically injured have said they are “devastated” over their loss.

Troi Lawton, 23, and Connor Elgey, 19, died after a Subaru car left the road on the A706 near Whitburn, West Lothian, at around 5am on Saturday.

Two other men, aged 28 and 52, suffered life -threatenin­g injuries and remain at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in critical condition.

Police said the driver, a 25-year-old man, was arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences and released pending further inquiries.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, Mr Law ton’ s family said :“We are all devastated and still in shock, we would not wish this upon anyone never mind our broken hearted family.

“We would ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Mr Elgey’s family said: “We are devastated by the tragic loss of Connor. His loss will be sorely felt by many. We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with his loss.”

Both men were from Bathgate.
