Age crime query

The letters by Andrew Gray and John Cameron (29 August) on the proposed Hate Crime Bill encouraged me to read some of what the Scottish Government are saying:

“The Bill seeks to consolidate, modernise and extend existing hate crime legislation by adding age as a new characteristic.”

In the past people whom I see as left-wing activists have criticised white men aged 55 and over for things like having too great a share of pensions and private property ownership. Could the new Bill result in these activists being prosecuted?
