#COMEDY

New director-general of the BBC Tim Davie is said to be planning to cut down on leftwing ‘bias’ in comedy shows.

@soapachu said: “The whole ‘axing left-wing bias in comedy’ story is blowing my mind. We did rightwing ‘comedy’ in the 70s, remember? Laughing at minorities/disabled people/ poor people. It wasn’t funny then and it’s not funny now.”

@ciaranwest tweeted: “These people consider Have I Got News for You to have a left wing bias, despite the fact that it was wall to wall Corbyn/abbott “jokes” for the last few years. They’re also the people who only liked Frankie Boyle when they thought his crudest/cruelest jokes were his real views.”

@caribou22 wrote: “Bernard Manning was offensive, but he was funny. These BBC left-wing panel show comedians are boring, repetitive and profoundly unfunny. Political correctness and humour can’t co-exist.”

@p_thursty wrote: “It’s the more political jokes that people don’t like. The BBC has to be impartial and having shows like The Mash Report poses a problem because they are very political.” @bishop0151 replied:

“If Labour was in power, programmes like The Mash Report would be tearing them up as well. It’s in the nature of comedy to hold a mirror up to society. It’s not as if Blair got it all his own way.”

#STRICTLY

The first three confirmed contestants for Strictly Comed Dancing 2020 were due to be revealed on The One Show last night.

@hayleydevlinx wrote: “Can’t wait to willingly enter my second lockdown of the year, totally voluntarily, so I can watch #Strictly uninterrupted all winter long.”

@strictlyscore tweeted: “Can definitely see a few actors being part of the lineup this year given that they won’t have as much, if any, work at the moment.”

@michael1994 wrote: “You know it’s nearly Christmas when #Strictly starts!”

@angelsosjackie added: “And, just for a moment, 2020 seems a little brighter.”

@alfiegarston jeered: “Older folk, cue your moronic ‘I’ve never heard of them and I don’t know how to use Google’.”

@danniwilde said: “Finally, so ready to see those dancing shoes dusted off.”
