Paper talk
I note that Nicola Sturgeon has raised concerns that old
er and vulnerable people may miss out on developments as a result of the BBC’S decision to axe live coverage of her daily briefings (Scotsman, 12 September).
As an older person I find her attitude to be at the least patronising if not downright
insulting. Frankly I do not watch her daily broadcasts because they are now clearly political In nature. However I am confident that I am still able to keep myself informed about Covid-related matters. I do this via a source that has been available for hundreds
of years before the advent of radio, television and social media, which is by reading a daily reputable newspaper – in my case The Scots man. A newspaper is far more likely to give detailed information and analysis than a broadcast by a partial politician.
I am sure that many older people like myself prefer to access information in this time-honoured way whether or not they have access to and are competent to use online sources.
