#IDRISELBA

With speculation continuing to link Tom Hardy to the role of 007 James Bond, many admirers of his fellow British actor Idris Elba are expressing their bitter disappointment.

@jojidune tweeted: “Idris Elba should’ve been the next James Bond. We have enough white people in films.”

@ciooneys agreed: “Yeah, I love Tom Hardy but Idris Elba playing James Bond would be the serve of the century.”

@dreezy007 reckoned: “We wanted Idris Elba... but trust me, Tom Hardy is even more perfect for the job. I’m saying this as a black man who doesn’t wonna get biased! I’ve watched tons of his movies; that man would perfectly replace Daniel Craig way better than Idris Elba would’ve done. He’s good.”

@simonfromharlow commented: “I’d have preferred Henry Cavill, or even Idris Elba but it’s probably the safest pair of hands if they want to retain Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear and Ralph Fiennes.”

@snarfledoof opined: “I see there’s prattling about Idris Elba not being Bond again. Surprised people haven’t figured it out yet. There won’t be a black James Bond. The fandom is too intolerant.” @rebekkarnold concluded: “I’m not mad at Tom Hardy being Bond but Idris Elba should’ve got that role without a single doubt in my mind, the perfect fit.”

#RUTHBADERGINSBURG

US judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the firebrand who in her 80s became a legal, cultural and feminist icon, has died aged 87.

@Thewomensorg commented: “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn’t be that women are the exception.” Rest in peace, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A warrior, a feminist icon and a hero to so many.”

@Lottiejohn1 added: “Desperately sad news to wake up to. Rest in peace.”

@vonderleyen contributed: “The US and the whole world have lost a truly remarkable person and pioneer for women’s rights, law and justice. She proved that women belong in all places of power where decisions are made.”

@pandelhorno pointed out: “Don’t say RIP, the appropriate way to honor a Jewish person’s passing is ‘may their memory be a blessing’.”
