Jockdown?

- Andrew Gibson

The Scottish Government has pushed back on claims the new law criminalising travel to and from areas with high prevalence of Covid- 19 may not be lawful.

So basically we are in a totalitarian state where the Executive has authority over the Legislature... anything is ‘ legal’ because the government says so and conversely... when was that statute passed? I must have missed it. In normal democracies, not those run by tinpot dictatorships, extreme measures take effect by being made law first.

Hamish Alldridge The Coronavirus Act 2020 gives devolved parliamentary powers to each nation to determine their own processes in restrictions.

Christopher Cameron It is a breach of article 13 ( freedom of travel) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which the UK ( and therefore Scotland) has signed up to! Not to mention other breaches. And defence of these restrictions from the Scottish Government is simply "and so said every totalitarian regime ever!". We are sleepwalking into a totalitarian state!

Robert Nicol This lot are brilliant at making things so much worse than they need to be. They are blithering peabrains and it seems to come so easy to them. Thankfully the public have more common sense and are totally ignoring the stupid rules and even laws, as are the police!

Rick Glass Love how when Wales did the same thing there was an outcry as to why Scotland didn't do it, now Scotland has everyone’s greeting.

Karen Mackenzie Why aren't we being told the statistical basis for this?

the country? And they don't have to justify to you every decision they make statistically? All you need to know is they have the legal competence to do it.

James Thomas Kilpatrick They are defending the realm against a virulent disease.

Donnie Johnston But feel free to come into Scotland via any of our airports. With little or no track and trace or testing!

Angela Mcdermott Read the regulation. It’s surely not legal. It attempts to control movement outwith its own borders. That cannot be a delegated power. Too much already. Even lawyers are saying it’s not legal. It’s

indicative of yet more poorly drafted legislation by the civil service.

Murray Hutchison Even if they try to make it lawful the police are reluctant to enforce it. So, more hot air really!

Raymond Kerr Did the English Government have to justify this action when they went back to lockdown? Pathetic.

Bill Brodie In Scotland, the government’s figures reveal that out of 40,929 deaths recorded since March 2020, 447 have died WITH Covid who were under 65 years of age. For those under 45, there have only been 33 deaths WITH Covid. The government also confirmed that the average age of people dying is over 81 years, with 92% of them having AT LEAST one preexisting condition.

Ross says it’s the voters’ fault that the SNP are in power. It’s our right to vote for the party we think are most suited to our countries needs, that’s why SNP have been in power for 13 years and Labour and the Tories are a dying breed.

Mhari Macrae

This Ross guy's a waste of air, needs to man up or step aside

Peter Leckie What would you expect, no Tories give a straight answer.

Hamish Gillies Did Sturgeon give a straight

Boris is right – devolution is absolutely a disaster under SNP.

Susan Freemantle Could he have kickstarted a debate that is long overdue, too?

Raymond Kerr Wonder why the Scots keep voting for the SNP in Scotland. As Del Boy would say, what a plonker.

Steven Mclean Why? Free university education, free prescriptions, free elderly care, free bus pass for the over- 60' s. Not everything is perfect but they look after the people more that the Tories.

Kenny Green That’s whit’s wrong wae country, the SNP voters think everything is free but we know different, you get nothing for free.
