Four new directors on board at Easter Road

- HIBERNIAN

Hibs chairman Ron Gordon says he’s “delighted” to welcome four new nonexecutive directors on to the club’s board as he continues to shape his longterm vision for the Easter Road side.

Joining are financial expert Kathrin Hamilton, lawyer and HR specialist Gillian Hutchinson, new media entrepreneur Jemma Goba and former Queen’ s Park and Edinburgh Rugby chief executive David Davies.

The four will join the board beginning with the first meeting in January. Outgoing chief executive Leeann Dempster remains at the club but is expected to leave in the new year having handed in her resignation in November.

Gordon told the Hibs website: “I am delighted that after hearing our strategic vision for the club all four readily agreed to join the board of Hibernian. They are as excited about the great potential at our club as I am, and their energy, commitment and expertise will be important in helping us make our vision for the club a reality.

“I wanted to expand the board to make it more representative of the club and community. We now have a board that is increasingly diverse and that represents more sectors of business life in the city.”

Hibs midfielder Scott Allan is stepping up his return to first-team action after coming through his own mini pre-season training programme.

Health concerns have limited the 29- year-old’ s involvement this term, with the last of his five appearances coming against Aberdeen at the end of August.

Since then he has been dealing with a private health issue and has been forced to watch from the side lines. However, he is now back training with the rest of the squad and looking to push his way back into contention.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Allan said :" I' m delighted to be back training, and looking to get a good couple of weeks training with the boys and see what happens from there.

"It' s all the little things, even the warm up in the changing room, that I'd missed over the last few months. Getting to kick a ball about again, especially with people you've become really close to the last couple of years, and a lot of the new signings as well.

"I'm delighted. I've missed it so much. It's been hard but

I just can't wait to get going again."

Due to the extended spell on the sidelines, Allan was put through an individual fitness programme before being given the green light to returning to training.

“I had two weeks reconditioning because I had such a substantial time out,” he added .“It was basically a mini pre-season and all the stuff you don't like so much. But I' ve been back on the pitch doing the things that I love and I just can't wait to get going."

Meanwhile, team-mate Josh Doig has revealed that a pre -match pep talk from Lewis Stevenson helped him keep tabs on James Tavernier during the 1- 0 defeat by Rangers on Boxing Day.

Doig, picture din set, returned to Hibs’ starting XI for the trip to Ibrox. The 18-year- old did well to contain the threat of Ta vernier, the marauding Rangers full-back who has produced 17 goals and 14 assists this season.

"Lewis, as always, came to me before the game. He knew the threat of Tavernier with the amount of goals and assists he's got this season," Doig told Hibs TV. "He told me how to show him the way that he can't really get balls in and I thought I stopped the threat of him."
