Nicola Sturgeon says more than 2.5 million people in Scotland should have received a Covid vaccination by May, but she hopes to speed up this timetable.
@scottishmojo55 said: “May is four months away. 2.5 million should be vaccinated by then. By my calculation that is roughly 120,000 a week and 17,000 a day. We need definitive information on a daily basis to ensure this is going to be achieved and if possible escalate more rapidly.”
@7Stirling posted: “So .
. . to put it bluntly, I have more chance of catching Covid than I have of getting vaccinated against it. And it’s slightly worrying that 50 per cent of Scotland's population comes under the category of elderly, infirm or vulnerable.”
@smiffy_73 commented: “There's an election in May, so under-promise and appear competent (and hope there's a supply chain problem so she can blame the UK Government). It's all been calculated and focus grouped.”
@Mattyratty55 remarked: “So the SNP are planning for 2.5 million by May, yet NHS England is planning for 2 million a week?”
@nscrutables replied: “Let's see who hits their target, shall we?”
#CHURCHWORSHIP
Church leaders have criticised the decision to close places of worship as "unfair". Scotland's Catholic bishops said public worship was a human right and provided an "essential contribution" to people's spiritual welfare.
@Scanlanwithana said: “I have elderly Catholic relatives who are shielding. The church should be reassuring them that they should stay at home and that God doesn't mind them missing mass rather than this nonsense."
@Shivilabour posted: “I don’t think God minds but I’m guessing for many it’s their only escape from this.”
@Snpsoosie commented: If you truly follow a religion, you live your religion every day in how you behave and how you treat others. If the only time you practice your religion is on Sundays, in a building, then I suggest you read Holy Willie's Prayer by Robert Burns.”
@scourt27907608 said: “Virtual group worship is feasible. Perhaps the bishops are more concerned about the collection plate.”
@Tam_sailor added: “That would be an ecumenical matter.”
