#GLASTONBURY

The Glastonbury Festival has been cancelled for a second year running due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. "With great regret, we must announce that this year's Glastonbury Festival will not take place," said festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

@Paul_elmore said: “So protect the vulnerable is just another one of the lies. By June they’d have got to everyone over 60. They’ll never let us out.”

@Ladykymberlyn responded: “The vaccine is only going to prevent you from getting it or at least having a mild version of it. It does not prevent you from spreading it.” @Bernardmoaning remarked: “Noise is not essential.”

@Wesley_david07 posted: “Covid will take a very long while until everything becomes normal again, so this was a sensible decision.”

@croucher_tiger commented: “How gutting for the multi-millionaire Eavis family, multi-millionaire performers and rich middleclass festival-goers. The rest of us don’t care.”

@joshjy said: “That’s the hospitality sector written off for another year then. Surely the vast majority would have been vaccinated by then?”

@Rockerold posted: “I wouldn't expect Micheal Eavis to do anything else, to be honest. But you can bet on one thing here. When we do eventually beat this horrendous virus,he will put on the biggest and best festival you've ever seen in this country.”

@Joshfairhurst11 observed: “Was never going to happen anyway. 200,000 people were never going to be allowed to stand next to each other in a field. Don't reckon a lot of concerts will go ahead this year. Gutting news but totally understandable.”

@Summerrunner80 commented: “Anybody that thought 2021 was going to be different is delusional. Use common sense and plan accordingly.”

@theoryofcrows posted: “I hope the artists (and all other musicians) will be fairly supported this year. I can't live without their music.”

@charliewong2398 said: “At least there won’t be all the eco warriors there, virtue signalling about the environment then leaving all their waste behind for others to clean up.”

@stephenhester28 added: “That'll put a dent in the knock-off Hunter wellies market along with yurts.”
