Falkirk extended their lead at the top of League One to six points with a 2-0 win at Station Park against a Forfar side who have slipped back into bottom spot.

Charlie Telfer netted from distance on 25 minutes with Blair Alston adding a second at the start of the second half after a mistake from Loons goalkeeper Marc Mccallum.

Bairns co-boss Lee Miller said: “It was a good solid professional performance.”

Mitch Megginson missed a penalty as second-placed Cove Rangers were held to a 0-0 draw by East Fife. Brett Long pushed Megginson’s second-half spot-kick away before recovering to block the rebound with Aaron Dunsmore denied a late winner for the hosts.

Partick Thistle are up to third with a 4-2 win at Airdrie where Jack Mckay fired the hosts ahead early. The Diamonds were denied a second by a great stop from Kieran Wright with Scott Tiffoney breaking up the park to equalise.

Goals from Brian Graham and Connor Murray gave Thistle a two-goal cushion before Tiffoney added a fourth. Ally Roy scored a second for Airdrie, who had captain Sean Crighton dismissed late on.

Ben Armour’s second-half wonder strike was the difference as visitors Peterhead beat Dumbarton 1-0. Hamish Ritchie sent a long diagonal pass over the home defence that Armour brought down before cutting in from the left and fizzing a right-footed effort into the bottom corner

Graham Webster and Lewis Jamieson each grabbed a first-half brace as Montrose and Clyde drew 2-2 at Links Park. Webster helped the hosts take the lead from the penalty spot but Jamieson scored twice in quick succession to put the Bully Wee ahead. Webster got his and Montrose’s second just before the break but neither side could find a winner.
