Murray’s header is enough to keep Spiders well clear of the chasing pack

Runaway leaders Queens Park moved one step closer to securing the League 2 title when they beat Annan 1-0 at The Falkirk Stadium.

The only goal came five minutes before half time when Simon Murray headed in after Salim Kouider-aissa had knocked on a cross.

The result means that the Spiders continue to lead the field by 12 points.

Rafa De Vita’s second half wonder-strike helped second placed Edinburgh City to a 2-1 home victory over bottom side Brechin.

The hosts took the lead inside the opening two minutes when Danny Handling stabbed in from six yards. Brechin equalised on 13 minutes when Bobby Barr to smashed in however the Citizens claimed the win on 71 minutes as De Vita’s curling effort flew into the top corner.

Stenhousem­uir kept their top four hopes alive by beating Elgin 2-0.

The hosts took the lead at Ochilview after 47 minutes when Tommy Muir buried a rebound and the Warriors doubled their lead four minutes from time as Botti Biabi slotted in.

Stranraer took all three points on the road at Stirling Albion thanks to Andy Stirling’s second half goal.

The midfielder broke the deadlock on 57 minutes when Darryl Duffy sent Stirling through on goal and he coolly slotted the ball under advancing keeper Blair Currie.

The Forthbank side’s Jordan Mcgregor was dismissed four minutes from time after his second yellow card.

Albion Rovers ground out a 0-0 stalemate at home to Cowdenbeat­h, with Rovers going closest right at the death when Lewis Wilson’s effort smashed off a post.
