#CAREHOMES

Nicola Sturgeon says the way elderly people were discharged from hospital to care home in the early stages of the pandemic was a mistake.

@Traceyrodgers1 said: “When she can remember her mistakes, she seems to think she'll be given credit for holding her hands up. It's not as simple as that. Certainly not to those people and families who have lost loved ones.”

@ronaldigray posted: “There were always going to be mistakes, and doing nothing would have cost countless more lives. Were the lessons learnt from those mistakes? I’m not sure they were, at least not quickly enough.”

@Turraloonns commented: “At that early stage of the crisis Scotland were reliant on scientific information coming from SAGE in London via Westminster. Back then they had no reason to question the reliability and independence of the scientific advice.”

@surreatimescot remarked: “It was a four-nations approach. If it was a mistake in Scotland it was a mistake everywhere else. But maybe no-one else apologised?”

@sjm1872 said: “Nicola Sturgeon would be shouting for resignations if it were any other party.” @William92786781 added: “Well said FM. I wonder if the PM, who did exactly the same thing, will make the same admission? Won’t hold my breath.”

#SUPERLEAGUE

Senior Uefa figures are reported to be furious that 11 major European football clubs, including five from England, have signed up to a breakaway European Super League.

@Vbarneko said: “Just look at any of the big four sports in the United States. one league of x amount of teams, zero relegation, zero promotion and zero incentive to actually compete/be good because at the end of the season each club will take its profit.”

@Hammymoobs posted: “Make the following irreversible conditions: 1. Expelled from the Premier League; 2. Expelled from the FA Cup; 3. Told that their players can no longer represent national teams in UEFA & FIFA competitions. Then let’s see if they still want to leave.”

@b9whu added: “Let them go. Let them fail and die of boredom every week. But don’t come running back to the English football league when it all goes wrong.”
