NISBET: ‘I COULD HAVE SCORED NINE GOALS AGAINST BLUES ’

- By PATRICK MCPARTLIN

Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet insisted he could have scored as many as nine goals as the Easter Road side brushed past Stranraer to reach the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup. The Scotland striker got on the scoresheet with a deflected free-kick in the second half but hit the post, missed a sitter from inside the six-yard box, and had numerous other chances to find the net as the capital club put in a commanding second-half performance to set up a last-eight clash with Motherwell at Easter Road next weekend, with a league game against Livingston in midweek.

Speaking to the BBC, Nisbet, pictured, said: "I probably should have had three matchballs from the amount of chances I had but I’m just delighted to get on the scoresheet again.

"The most important thing is the win and me, Christian Dodge, and Martin Boyle all got on the scoresheet so I think it’s a win-win for everybody and we’re in the next round.

"We’ve played Motherwell a lot this season but it’s just about us preparing the way we usually prepare and implementing our game on them. It’s a massive week for us and we’ve got one ticked off and two to go.”

Nisbet’s strike partner Doidge scored the allimportant opener to take his personal tally for the season to ten.

He said: “As a centre-forward you always want to score and to get the first one today put us in a good place at half-time.

"We've got three games this week so it’s going to be very difficult but we’ve just got to keep the heads down, work hard, and hopefully get another good result [against Motherwell]."
