Draw enough to crown Queen’s Park champions

Queen’s Park’s goalless draw with Elgin City at The Falkirk Stadium was enough for Ray Mckinnon’s unbeaten side to clinch the League Two title.

The Spiders thought they had the chance to break the deadlock from the spot on 33 minutes when Simon Murray went down under challenge from Euan Spark.

Elgin boss Gavin Price was sent off for his protests before referee Steven Reid reversed his decision after consulting his assistant.

Darryl Mchardy went close to spoiling the party in the second half when he got his head on Kane Hester’s fiercely driven free-kick but Willie Muir made a terrific stop, with Will Baynham sending a late header wide as Queen’s looked for victory.

Ouzy See scored in the first half as Edinburgh City moved five points clear in second after beating Stirling Albion 1-0. Gary Naysmith’s men took the lead on 34 minutes when See caught Binos shotstoppe­r Cammy Binnie on the ball and knocked in the opener into an empty goal.

Stranraer picked up their third straight league win with a 2-0 success at Albion Rovers. The Blues took the lead on 43 minutes when James Hilton firedhome,withjoaovi­ctoria making sure of the victory six minutes from time.

Five-star Annan secured back-to-back home wins after coming from behind to beat Stenhousem­uir 5-1. Stenny stalwart Mark Mcguigan opened the scoring for the visitors when he capitalise­d on a slack back-pass, but their lead lasted less than a minute as Nathan Flanagan slotted home past Paddy Martin.

Wallace chipped Martin and The Galabankie­s extended their lead when Wallace got his second when he fired in a half-volley.

Aidan Smith headed in a fourth and Darren Christie added a fifth as David Irons bowed out as manager of the Warriors.

Bottom side Brechin remain separated from Cowdenbeat­h by eight points after a 0-0 draw at Glebe Park. City goalkeeper David Hutton kept the Blue Brazil at bay as the Angus club edged closer to the relegation play-offs they are out to stop taking place.
