Angus on Boris

-

"Boris Johnson is the personal embodiment of the politics that we've rejected in Scotland" the SNP’S Angus Robertson told The Scotsman as he bids to get back to Holyrood.

This is the guy who couldn’t convince his constituents to re-elect him.

Andrea Sinclair I remember being so excited when we voted Angus Robertson out ! Would do it again!

Elizabeth Leiper Boris may be a caricature of the most universally despised type of Tory, there is no getting away from that. But the fact remains that the arguments for Scotland's place in the UK have ramifications which go well beyond one individual or one Westminster term of office. As a world- leading furlough funding system and vaccine roll- out clearly highlight.

Margot Gleave The UK government did not roll out, nor did it develop the vaccines, so there is no reflected Tory glory in that. Furlough was a good idea, but it also begs the question of why ideologically imposed austerity has continued to exist for more than 10 years and the national debt has doubled in that time.

Charles Mackay

If Angus Robertson had his way all of us over 70 would be wiped out to make room for young voters for the SNP .

Kathryn Shearer

Boris Johnson isn't even a candidate in this election. It shows the SNP, after 14 years in power in Scotland, have nothing to crow about.

Llorna Shiels

Quite. It’ s the classic "straw man’ defence. Set up an irrelevant argument/ scenario to knock it down. As you say, trying to deflect attention from their disastrous domestic record (the actual areas they have responsibility for) rather than the ‘mirage’ of independence. H e's an embarrassment to the SNP – after his comments on older Scots inadvertently drawing attention to the care homes fiasco.

Peter Lewis Boris Johnson will come and go. Independence will not.

Evelyn Watson Exactly, the SNP have been playing this game for a long time to get people to vote for independence. If it's not Scotland v England, a hatred of whatever PM, be it Boris, May etc – all to create division. I have yet to hear one valid reason for splitting up the UK, apart from Freedooom!

Charlie Duncan Only people who create division are the unionist bigots.

Ron Mcpherson The very essence of nationalism is division – creating differences and separating yourself from your neighbours. Unionism is working together. Check a dictionary.

Peter Lewis Biggest SNP landside yet coming up in May.

Joe Rockks Robertson is English. How ironic.
