Police urge public to ‘be patient and kind’ while cows cross the road

- By HANNAH BROWN

Police in Lochaber and Skye are urging tourists and motorists to 'moooove’ out the way for cows crossing the roads as they become busier following coronavirus travel restrictions easing.

Lochaber and Skye police have also emphasised that people should ‘be patient, kind and accommodating’ and that a ‘wee wave helps too’ whilst being mindful of cows and other road users.

To emphasise their message of cow safety, the police posted a video on their Twitter account of a driver stopping – with jazz music audible in the background – to make way for a hairy cow.

The cow can be seen strutting to the music as it makes its way to safety.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We're expecting things to start getting busier on the roads over the next few days.

"Be patient, kind and accommodating and remember to moooove into the side at the passing places.

"A wee wave helps too!” Travel restrictions across

Scotland eased on April 16 allowing Scots to travel across Scotland for outdoor, small group recreation, socialising or exercise.

However, there is still a ban on staying overnight in a different local authority area.

Yet, on Monday, there will be unrestricted travel across the whole of the UK as hospitality venues such as cafes, pubs and restaurants will reopen. All shops, stores, close contact services, gyms, swimming pools and other leisure facilities can reopen on this day as well as tourist accommodation.
