Scotland lock Skinner and fellow Chief could face bans

- By GARETH BLACK

Exeter forwards Sam Skinner and Dave Ewers will appear before a disciplinary panel today as the Chiefs prepare to tackle Gallagher Premiership play-off opponents Sale Sharks.

Scotland internationalist lock Skinner was sent off for a dangerous tackle during Exeter's dramatic 20-19 victory over Sale on the final day of the regular Premiership season.

Flanker Ewers, meanwhile, has been cited following a dangerous tackle on Sale full-back Simon Hammersley.

Ewers given a yellow card in the 33rd-minute by referee Karl Dickson, while Exeter recovered from a 16-point deficit after Skinner's dismissal to edge out Sale and ensure a home tie against the same opponents on Saturday.

The Rugby Football Union said that an online independent disciplinary panel for each hearing will comprise Jeremy Summers (chair) with Mitch Read and Olly Kohn.

If both players are banned, they look set to miss the play-off and June 26 Premiership final should Exeter qualify.
