Green Power can surge back into form in Windsor sprint

- By GLENDALE

Green Power has been given a real chance by the assessor in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap at Windsor. six-year-old, trained by John Gallagher, has tumbled down the weights of late - and that is admittedly for a reason, because he has shown next to little worthwhile form this season.

When at his best, though, Green Power is a smart sprinter, as his victory at Goodwood from a mark of 96 in August 2019 showed.

While that may seem a long time ago now, in sprinting terms Green Power has not exactly been over-raced since, having only eight runs in two years.

Outclassed in two outings last year, he has only beaten five rivals in four runs this term - but as a result, his mark has dropped from 94 to 80 in that time, a full stone in just four outings.

There will be plenty of trainers wishing the handicapper had been as lenient with their horses, and Green Power can take advantage.

First Connection can build on a win last time out, in the Remembering Rod Woodhams Handicap.

Unusually for a colt by Glethe neagles, who shunned soft ground like the plague in his racing days, First Connection handled those conditions well last time out when winning at Bath.

That was on the back of a decent effort at Yarmouth, and he starts life handicapping off amarkof78.

That does not seem too harsh, given he has proved he handles cut in the ground, something most of his rivals have a question mark over.

William Haggas enjoyed a successful Royal Ascot and can strike with Kolisi in the Get Hugh Taylor's Tips on Attheraces.com Novice Stakes.

Gelded before his debut at Ripon, where he was only third of four, Kolisi then took a big step forward at Nottingham to be beaten just a neck. Clearly capable of better still, he will take plenty of beating.

Jamie Osborne will be keen to hold on to daughter Saffie's 5lb claim as long as possible, so whenever she is jocked up on a 'home' runner it is always worth a second look.

She maintains her partnership with Big Little Lie after a win at Brighton recently - and while the handicapper has had a say, it may not be enough to stop them following up in the Download The Vickers.bet App Handicap at Chepstow.

The win came over a mile - but she was doing her best work in the final 100 yards, so an extra two furlongs should bring more improvement.
