Scotrail loss

Scotrail needs to get “bums back on seats” after the train operator’s revenue fell by more than £100 million a year amid the Covid pandemic.

Not only that but I for one don’t want to be sat in a crowded train squashed in next to strangers, no ventilation, not many wearing masks and many of those due to the fact that folk are ignoring the alcohol ban. The pandemic is still here with a new variant on the way!

Sue Gail Channon

Have you tried not being one of the worst transport operators?

Marc Collins

Prices are ridiculous.

Audrey Mackay

The fact is there will be little increase from the present until people actually return to offices and places of work pre-covid, if that ever happens. The startling figures reported on comparative use of Glasgow Central Station 'pre and post' Covid rather sum up the challenge.

Eric F Anderson Slow (nearly two hours to get from Perth to Edinburgh) and over priced.

Duncan Sim Reduce fares, run on time etc, then folk might use the train.

Indyref2

The Owen Paterson scandal shows Boris Johnson "always bows to pressure" and will not be able to stand in the way of a second independence referendum, says SNP depute leader Keith Brown.

He makes convenient U turns but behind the scenesnasty Tory ideology is flourishing with a whipped majority at Westminster.

Haakon Lovell Given the recent polls it looks like the SNP have to change a lot more minds than the PM'S to get a referendum. The longer the SNP are in power the more people see holes in the arguments for independence.

Peter Lewis

This really is desperate stuff. Boris won't be the one deciding. The Supreme Court will - and just as we saw recently they will simply apply the law. There won't be an Indyref2 any time soon.

Dave Workman

Independence is being tied to the EU and using the euro monetary system and getting annoyed by the unionist that definitely won't sit on their hands while our country is getting ruined. So it will be years and years before unionists will let nationalists rest.

Arthur Thompson

Dream on and bring it on. You will lose and eventually we will be rid of Sturgeon.

Brian Tough

Deluded as always. Sturgeon had no role to play other than chasing selfies with the real leaders like a teenage autograph hunter. Boris won’t change his mind on this and therefore there won’t be another expensive and divisive referendum. Thank goodness!

David Burnside Where’s the connection? I know Boris is a balloon but

I can’t see anything moving on this.

David Halley What a load of twaddle. They can't even sort themselves out now. But if this is what the good Scottish people want. I'm certain they will do the right thing.

Nativity plays Parents slam nativity ban as schools to stream plays online

It is sad but people should look for the positives… You get to see the show on screen with your child. You can actually see them rather than trying to see past the parents in front of you who are recording it on their phone instead of watching their child. Your child can still attend school in the last week of term because it hasn’t had to be closed due to a whole community gathering in a small hall and potentially spreading Covid.

Mairi Haddow

Same as last year... Parents still aren't allowed in school buildings. Parent consultations are still being done over the phone.

Lesley Watt

I don’t agree with this at all. So many parents have missed things with their children these last few years they will never be able to get back. The teachers, kids and even parents are all mixing most days anyway and I'm pretty sure they will not be staying home when they leave school/work so are mixing further again! Why deprive people? Keep masks on like every other venue.

Amanda Balloch

So school nativity plays are banned with an audience, but schoolchildren and parents will be going to the panto at theatres around the country. What is the difference between a school hall with an audience and a theatre with an audience?
