Don’t panic

Police Scotland has issued a statement to schools across Scotland reassuring pupils that there is no specific threat as a result of reported military action in Ukraine following Vladimir Putin’s invasion.

Hope they weren't given the message by the same person who told us not to be concerned about Covid coming to the UK in 2020.

Pam Baird

Since when were Police Scotland experts on international affairs?

Jan Mcalister

Western media got them fearing the worst in the first place.

Llorna Shiels

Makes sense I suppose, or at least makes sense for someone to make a statement. This has been the main news for about a month now and some kids are naturally anxious. And why not, it's a new situation for them and a horrific one at that.

Andy Stephen Why would the police do that?

Fiona Mcallister

Some parents seem to think that we are a main Russian target, so this hysteria trickles down to the bairns.

Stevie Dee

What a load of rubbish, complete waste of time and money, do a real job.

Tom Hamilton

Probably instructed to do so by Sturgeon in her desperation to make the population think she's relevant in all this. International relations is outwith her remit (and she knows it!).

Susan Montgomery "Reported" military action suggests that Police Scotland aren't sure if there is any military action in Ukraine or not!

Mike Hibbard Parents are the ones who should be parenting their children on such subjects, not police.

Staying put

Ian Blackford has denied rumours he is preparing to quit as the SNP’S Westminster leader.

Shame, I had my hopes raised there as I'm sorry to say he's my useless MP.

Alison Braine

Well, time will tell if the rumours are true or not, and we shall all know the truth in the coming weeks or months. If there is disarray within the SNP Westminster contingent it will show itself, after all you can only keep the lid on a boiling pot for so long before the pot explodes.

No smoke without fire

Phyllis Gauld

According to certain islanders it's happy days all round if he goes.

Arthur Conboy

Rats and sinking ships?

Jimi Marshall

He is such a great voice for the free-thinking people of Scotland, I hope that if he did leave his post then someone with equal powers of communication could take over.

Campbell Scott You think multimillionaire hedge fund managers represent the working people of Scotland?

David Stephens No chance, he will not leave, he gets thousands of pounds – cushy number.

Kevin Black Actually I hope he doesn't quit. The longer he stays in place, the better for the union. Of course it could be even better, dependent on who would replace him. However, given the lack of anyone of substance in their ranks that could replace him, it's a case of keeping the status quo for the greater good.

Brian Braddock Not sure he would be a major loss to them. But then neither am I sure that there is a wealth of talent on the SNP benches ready to step up to replace him.

Padley Cloth Good point but is 'talent' really what the SNP seek? Servile mediocrity is more their thing.
