Southern Knights up and running with victory against winless Stirling Wolves

- By GARY HEATLY

The Southern Knights got their first victory of the FOSROC Super6 Championship season last night at Bridgehaugh and in the process left Stirling Wolves winless.

It took until the 27th minute for the deadlock to be broken, skipper Marcus Holden kicking a penalty for the hosts in Stirling.

Converted tries from Cammy Scott and Douglas Crawford - plus two David Colvine penalties - then put the visiting team from the Borders 20-3 up after 51 minutes. Despite losing a player to the sin-bin late on, the Knights held on to win by that scoreline.

Today the competition continues when Boroughmuir Bears head to Millbrae at 2pm looking to keep their unbeaten start going versus the Ayrshire Bulls.

Then at 4.30pm, Heriot’s – with Scotland Sevens winger Jacob Henry in their team - will try to become the first team to defeat leaders Watsonians this term in an Edinburgh derby at Goldenacre.
