WHAT WE DO
The Scotsman has been proud to cover the Edinburgh festivals since their inception in 1947, and as the festivals have grown our coverage has grown, too. We are not aware of any other daily newspaper, anywhere in the world, which produces a greater volume of professional arts criticism in a single month than we do in a typical August.
PRINT COVERAGE
Every day until the end of August we’re running comprehensive coverage in The Scotsman’s daily Festivals magazine and Scotland on Sunday’s eightpage Festivals pull-out, including reviews of every show at the EIF, hundreds of Fringe reviews, daily Book Festival coverage, and round-ups from the Film Festival and Art Festival.
ONLINE COVERAGE
Our film critic Alistair Harkness is writing a daily Edinburgh International Film Festival diary for scotsman.com. And please sign up to our arts newsletter at www. scotsman.com/newsletter for details of ticket offers.
FRINGE FIRSTS
The most longestablished awards at the festival, The Scotsman’s Fringe Firsts have been recognising outstanding new writing premiered at the Fringe since 1973. The first of this year’s winners were announced on 12 August and yesterday; the final set will be unveiled on Friday 26 August.
SCOTSMAN FRINGE AWARDS
The biggest awards ceremony at the festival returns to the Pleasance Courtyard on Friday 26 August. Watch this space for line-up announcements!
