#MACARENA
Lincoln’s police chief defended officers dancing Macarena at Pride event.
@angel_gardia wrote: “It's embarrassing. If I was doing this at work I'd be taken into a performance review meeting. No wonder crime is so rife in the UK if the police aren't respected. Stop dancing and do your job, you're a member of the oldest police force in the world… Act like it."
@keithfinney10 replied: “Their job there is peacekeeping and the peace was kept. I pity your work environment if a few minutes of fun is frowned upon.”
@Leonduveen wrote: “You can criticise the dancing (they didn't seem in time or sure of the moves) but by entering into the spirit of the event, engaging with the others at Pride, they will have done more to improve relations with those they are policing than any politician pontificating from afar.”
@Realdelbhoycfc swrote: “I remember the cops dancing at Notting Hill – did wonders for race relations.”
@americaninuk1 wrote: “For heaven’s sake, it’s lovely! How nice to see them supporting the local community and having a bit of fun. Anyone complaining, get a life!” @jamiepaterson tweeted: “They're at the event to provide a presence in the case of disturbance. They'd stop immediately if someone came up to them to report a crime. Would you prefer they stand at attention 24/7?”
#BARRISTERS
Criminal barristers in England and Wales have voted to go on all-out strike, delaying thousands of cases.
@semionic1 tweeted: “They earn more than enough, haven’t got a clue how it is to really struggle.”
@chrisjovib76 replied: “Suggest you educate yourself about junior criminal barristers’ pay!”
@alistair_sloan added: “A junior barrister is any barrister that is not QC. You could be 35 years called and still be a Junior barrister.”
@Tlclegals wrote: “The 15% rise is merely to reverse a previous 15% cut. There has been no increase in fees since 2000. The same goes for solicitors who are not currently striking, not many of them left to attend police stations and courts.”
@Fistonfeuvert wrote: “All this is the fallout of Brexit but nobody [will] admit it.”
@bugleing said: “It’s not Brexit. Or the pandemic. It’s many years of government neglect of the justice system.”
