Judgment day

-

The Supreme Court will hand down its judgment on November 23 on whether the Scottish Parliament has the power to hold an independence referendum.

I imagine their learned lordships will tell us that Scots are not sovereign in their own country and that the English, by some unspecified means, have acquired it.

Ronald Ramsey Seems a rather quick timescale for a decision, I wonder why.

Luckie Mucklebakit Probably because it wasn't difficult

kmcn After the hearing the justices said they had thousands upon thousands of pages of material to review, so this does seem a relatively early judgement. If indeed it is a judgement we get, as opposed to a decision to not rule on draft legislation.

Roastin This shouldn't be happening. A total waste of money. There is no will for another referendum. There is no will for independence We have already had a referendum and the answer is No.

Alastair Browne Spoken like someone who has no clue of Scottish history or the independence movement. It’s been a constant ever the ‘Union’ was forced on us in 1707.

Ally Smith It’s a voluntary union, and you were given the opportunity to leave, but the majority of sensible Scots said No. Done and dusted.

Fiona Ogilvie Taylor Of course Westminster will interfere to say 'no' – but this will only infuriate our electorate because they'll see we're being treated as subservient rather than equals.

Sovereign State of Scotland Do SNP voters ever wonder why Sturgeon has not held the Referendum she has promised every year since she became First Minister?

Grumpy No – SNP voters are gullible mugs – and that's why Sturgeon treats SNP voters as gullible mugs.

Ah’m No Bluffin What! Have you met every voter who votes for the SNP and Indy? Do you know that 1 in 3 labour supporters support Indy along with 1 in 10 Tory voters? Despicable comments on your part, and short on respect for your fellow Scots who choose SNP.

Tommy Murphy Here's a massive benefit of independence: we get the government that we vote for 100% of the time, instead of the incompetent shower that has passed for the UK government for the last 12 years.

Dougie Milne No we don’t, we don’t all vote SNP.
