Bus behaviour

-

The boss of Lothian Buses, Sarah Boyd, has appealed to customers for more courtesy and consideration towards drivers and other staff after an upsurge in abusive behaviour.

What is wrong with people? We as a society have lost all respect and dignity, it’s an embarrassment to hear of this going on. Why do people think it’s OK to disrespect other humans like this? I just don’t understand it. Have we lost the ability to be civil to each other?

Emma Riley Our society should be able to do more than verbally warn or give suspended sentences to people.

Leah Sadler People need to learn to respect each other again. Drivers have a duty of care to their passengers and the public in general. If they react badly and take their frustration out on innocent people because they’ve had a bad experience with another driver or passenger they aren’t fit to be behind the wheel.

Paul Clarkson Jump behind the wheel for a few weeks, and then let people know if your just as happy or cheery, polite and optimistic as you were a few weeks ago.

David Aitken Absolutely no reason to abuse a driver. The conditions they need to drive under are not of their making. They too are probably having a bad day. I always acknowledge the drivers and thank them. After all, they still turned up for work.

Karen Ross No driver should be given abuse. And anyone identified doing so should be punished. However, as an occasional user of Lothian buses it might help if some drivers could lose their attitude and remember the paying public are their customers and are paying their wages.

Kenny Murphy It is illogical to blame the drivers every time something goes wrong. Complain to their management. We have too many people who never learned any manners from their parents.
