Dozens injured as earthquake hits Turkey

At least 68 people have been injured after a magnitude-5.9 earthquake hit north-western Turkey, causing damage to some buildings and sparking widespread panic.

The earthquake was centred in the town of Golkaya, induzcepro­vince,some125 miles east of Istanbul.

The quake struck at 4.08am local time and was felt in Istanbul and the capital Ankara. Dozens of aftershock­s were reported, including one with a magnitude of 4.3.

At least 68 people were treated in hospitals for injuries.
