Hawick have room for improvement against Accies

-

League leaders Hawick will welcome third-placed Edinburgh Accies to Mansfield Park this afternoon in the game of the day in the Tennent’s Premiership.

In-form Hawick made it 11 wins in a row last weekend at Musselburgh, but the Borderers were made to battle by the bottom side. Accies, meanwhile, scored a last minute try and conversion to defeat second placed Currie Chieftains.

Fraser Renwick, Dalton Redpath and fit-again No 8 Jae Linton come into the starting pack for Hawick and their head coach, Matty Douglas, admits there is room for improvement. “Last week we weren’t at our best, but the players are keen to fix the little things that we got wrong and what better way than in a first versus third match at

Mansfield Park,” explained Douglas.

His opposite number Iain Berthinussen said: “I was immensely proud of the effort and attitude shown by our players last week and we will need to be even better this week to come away with the desired result.”

Accies have Ben Appleson and Sinjin Broad coming into their backline and Jake Mills starting in the back-row.

Currie will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host eighth-placed Heriot’s Blues at Raeburn Place.

Selkirk are currently fourth and they welcome Musselburgh to Philiphaugh wary that the side tenth in the table still have plenty of fight left in them.

Glasgow Hawks and Marr are the sides in closest pursuit of the top four sides and they are at home to ninth-placed Jed-forest and seventhplaced GHA respectively.
