Nicola Sturgeon insisted her Government’s Gender Recognition Reform Bill is about rights, not “ideology”, and politicians should not have to quit the SNP over the issue.

Maybe Shirley-anne Somerville should question if she's comfortable being in the SNP then.

Dougie Stuart The problem with people leaving the SNP is not just about this bill – they are sick and tired of the one-woman show and the incompetence of the party led by Sturgeon. Change is desperately needed.

Chick Mcdonald A few days ago Finland passed what is basically the same as the Scottish Gender Recognition Act, and have now joined virtually all of Western Europe in doing so. No fuss, no hysteria. All-party support in parliament, but not blocked afterward by a neighbour (because Finland is a real country and not a powerless English colony like Scotland).

Mmaureen Coyle Facts matter – Scotland has never been a colony. Finland is not allowing kids to transition. It’s an adultrelated law.

Eileen Beesley She needs to drop this and she’s kidding nobody about resignations, it’s already happened because she wouldn’t allow a free vote. FMS have been forced out for far less than this debacle.

Mike Scales I don’t think this bill was brought to public attention as it should have been to get a balanced Scottish opinion. I haven’t met anyone who thinks the age should be lowered and I think there are many possible problems to be carefully considered. Thank goodness it’s been stopped in it’s tracks.

Frances Fleming The vast majority of SNP

members & voters just want independence from the British One-party State, they are not interested in this nonsense that has the potential to derail independence.

Colin Steele It's all about a minor amendment to a UK Law passed in 2004. The only people squealing about it are the ones being played like fiddles by the media. People so deluded they believe Nicola Surgeon is responsible for an invading hoarde of trans men and women whose sole purpose is to sexually attack women. If an SNP member resigns over this then let them crack

on because they are dancing to the tune of a corrupt establishment.
