Hero tops Carlisle Beltex

-

A ram lamb from an Aberdeenshire breeder led the Beltex Sheep Society’s September sale at Carlisle, when Woodies Hero ET from Stuart Wood realised 3000gns.

This March-born son of the 30,000gns BorderEsk Finders Keepers is out of Mr Wood’s imported 1443 V/D Harlembois ewe and was from his flock near Skene, Westhill. It was knocked down to Gordy Harrison for the Gordy’s flock, at Carnwath, Lanarkshire.

Son Murray Wood, was also in the money, taking 2000gns for the first prize ram lamb and reserve male, Woodies Horatio ET, another similarly aged lamb by Finders Keepers, purchased by Zoey Rennie, Grange, Banff.

Jamie and Richard Jerman’s Brilley flock, from Whitneyon-Wye, secured the male and supreme championship with a shearling, but it was their ram lamb, Brilley Huntsman ET, that sold for the second top price of 2500gns to Jock McMillan’s Clary flock, Newton Stewart. A full brother to the 25,000gns Brilley Hulk ET sold in August, he is by Ardstewart Fred Flintstone and out of the Topflite Al Pacino-sired Hackney Dior.

The Jermans’ champion, Brilley Gold Finger, sold to the judge, Andrew Bishop, Eldersfield, Gloucestershire, for 2000gns. His pedigree features another Al Pacino daughter in the shape of Greenfield Candy, and the record-holding Airyolland Castro.

Another two lots sold for 2000gns – paid for two shearlings from local breeder, TC Whiteford.

First was Tercrosset Ginger Ninja, a triplet-born son of Airyolland Dipstick, purchased by Messrs Hall, Gilling West, Richmond, followed by Tercrosset Ginger Ale, by the same sire, which was knocked down to John Wilson, Kirkmabreck, Creetown, Newton Stewart.
