Charolais tops Penrith at £2115

CATTLE averaged £1181.26 at Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart’s Michaelmas prize show and sale of 601 head at Penrith, having sold to a top of £2115 for a 28-month-old Charolais bullock from WH Brass, Low Row.

Limousins from BS and J Strong, and Son, Hewer Hill, secured both the champion and the reserve honours, with the former, a heifer selling for £1520, to GH Crapper and Son. The reserve, a bullock, made £1720, to the judge, M Robshaw, Beck House Farm, Tadcaster.

Heifers reached £1695 for a British Blue cross Simmental from J Shields, Gooselands View Barn, purchased by W Armstrong.
