Charolais calf wins at Cockermout­h

FOR the second consecutiv­e year, Messrs Powley, Greenmarsh, Carlisle, won the overall championsh­ip at Mitchells Auction Co’s September show and sale of store cattle.

Their winner, a 10-monthold Charolais steer was later purchased for £1365 by Angela Smith. Greenmarsh also landed the reserve with a British Blue steer that later sold for £1375.

Outwith the show, prices peaked at £1685 for a Limousin steer from Messrs Holliday and Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton. Heifers were topped at £1495 for a pair of Limousins from DJ Lister, Woodend Farm, Holmrook.
