Charolais calf wins at Cockermouth
FOR the second consecutive year, Messrs Powley, Greenmarsh, Carlisle, won the overall championship at Mitchells Auction Co’s September show and sale of store cattle.
Their winner, a 10-monthold Charolais steer was later purchased for £1365 by Angela Smith. Greenmarsh also landed the reserve with a British Blue steer that later sold for £1375.
Outwith the show, prices peaked at £1685 for a Limousin steer from Messrs Holliday and Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton. Heifers were topped at £1495 for a pair of Limousins from DJ Lister, Woodend Farm, Holmrook.
