Towiemore does the double
BREEDING cattle from EM Smith and Sons, Towiemore, Keith, did the double at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ show and sale of 136 spring-calving heifers at Thainstone, landing both the champion and the reserve honours.
Judges, George and Nicola Wordie, Mains of Cairnborrow, Glass, found their champion in a Limousin cross heifer with male calf which they later purchased for £3300. The reserve winner from Towiemore, a Shorthorn cross heifer with male calf also sold to the judged at £3000.
Champion Simmentalsired heifer with calf was an outfit from C and G Gordon, Lost Farm, Strathdon, which made £3250 to WJ Jack and Son, Woodend, Muir of Ord, while the award for the best British Blue-sired heifer and calf was presented to an entry from R and A Stodart, Mill of Inverarity, Forfar. It topped the sale at £3750 when selling to Eric Sim, Rorandle, Monymusk.
