India’s Preet Avenger range comes to the UK

- By Peter Hill

A new range of compact tractors from Indian manufacturer, Preet, is catching the eye of dealers and end users.

Importer, Matthew Davies, of MD Plant and Tractor Sales, based near Carmarthen, south Wales, has a vested interest when he sums up the tractors as being of ‘tough build at low prices’ but he backed up the claim with examples. “If you look at the back-end, it’s a beefier structure than you see on other tractors of this size, and the same goes for other components,” said Mr Davies.

“We’re very confident about supplying the Avenger 26 with a Cochet loader, a proper implement with 550-600kg of lift capacity and we do this in a package for £9995 that includes rear wheel weights, the first service, a servicing kit for the owner’s use, plus road registration.”

The former Solis dealer is currently importing the four-wheel drive Avenger 20 and 26, with model numbers approximating to horsepower.

They are both powered by three-cylinder Mitsubishi engines, although the Avenger 26 is also available with a fourcylinder VST diesel based on a Mitsubishi design.

Both engines drive through a three-speed, high/low 6x2 transmission with synchro on second and third.

A 1 tonne capacity rear three-point linkage handles rear-mounted implements and, unusually, there is an oil supply and pump dedicated to the steering in addition to system for the rear hitch and external services.

Although an unfamiliar name in the UK, the Preet Group is familiar to farmers in India where the business makes combines, tractors from 25100hp with two- and four-wheel drive, a backhoe-loader for construction, a baler and rotary tillers.

The Avenger tractors form Preet’s new European product line, comprising the compact models and cabbed tractors from 60-100hp.
