SOME 1138 prime lambs levelled at 224.9p with prices reaching heights of £135 for a Suffolk from J Russell and Son, Crouse or to 276.1p for Beltex from S and A McCaig, Mount Pleasant.

Cast sheep topped at £121 for Texel crosses from R Oxley, Barholm Mains with tups to £101 for Blackfaces from S Stirling, Wood of Dervaird.

Wooler

HARRISON and Hetheringt­on sold 1807 prime lambs to top at £146 and 334p for Beltex from Matfen Home Farm, to average 245p.

The sale of cast sheep attained £209 for a Texel from J Herdman, Edlingham Newtown.

Forfar

ALL classes of cattle sold well through Lawrie and Symington’s sale, where heifers peaked at 312p for a 558kg Limousin from Chapel of Barras or £1929.32 for a 694kg Limousin from Greenhead, to balance out at 280p per kg.

The 587 prime lambs were led by a pen of five Beltex which realised £133.50 from A Strachan, Clochie. Similar, to average 217p.

Texels dominated the 262 cast sheep with entries from Firhills achieving £135.

Dumfries

ALL classes of cattle sold well at C and D Auction Marts, with trade topping at 300p from J Jardine, Yett, while OTM’s made £1854 for a Limousin from Hamlet Cowans or 205p for another of the same from Herries.

The 898 prime lambs sold to £126 for Texels from Shangan or 262p from Eastside, to level at 231.5p.

A Suffolk took the top price amongst the cast sheep at 138 for Netherhall.

Huntly

UNITED Auctions had forward 696 prime lambs which averaged 220p per kg having sold to 255p per kg for 42.5kg Beltex from Redwood, Alford and to £145 for 70kg Texels from Dunscroft, Huntly.

Stirling (Cale)

CALEDONIAN Marts’ sale of prime heifers sold to 305p for a Limousin from Firm of WM Pettigrew, Faskine and to £1781 for a Charolais from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuth­ill.

Bullocks achieved 292p for a Limousin from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuth­ill or £1963 for a Shorthorn from HA Brown, Molemount.

The 58 OTMs balanced out at 179p and peaked at 210p for a Limousin from Dyke, Milton Of Campsie and to £1780 for a Simmental from Hill O’ Harthill, Harthill, with dairy types to 164p from R and J Cumming, Cowend, Stranraer.

The calves and stirks soared to £780 for a Limousin bullock from H Aird, Harelaw, Crook Of Devon.

Prime lambs levelled at 233p with trade topping at 292p for Beltex from DC MacVicar, Middle Ballat or to £145 for Texels from C Smith, South Flanders.

Texels from Hoprig led the cast ewes and rams, with prices reaching £188 amongst the ewes with tups to £129.

Stirling (UA)

MONZIE Farms and Cuiltburn led United Auctions’ sale of 4513 to cash in at 231.14p, with trade topping at 291p and £132 for Beltex, respective­ly.

Texels from Easter Garden led the cast ewes at £180, with tups from Hatton Knowe topping at £182.

Thainstone

TRADE was a flier at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale with bullocks cashing in at 247.4p having sold to 261p for a 555kg Aberdeen Angus from Todhills, Banff and to £1670.50 for a 650kg Charolais from Boghead of Cobairdy, Forgue.

Heifers averaged 247p with prices reaching 275p for a 535kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessl­e and £1773.90 for a 810kg Limousin from Cadgerford, Kingswells, wiht young bulls to 245p for a 650kg Limousin from The Bungalow Troup, Home Farm and £2295 for a 1020kg Simmental from Drumsleed, Fordoun.

In the cast ring, beef finished cows averaged £1694.23 having sold to £2480 for a 1142kg Aberdeen Angus from Culfork, Alford, with beef feeding cows achieving £1550 for a 696kg British Blue from Whitegate, Tresdale.

The firm also sold 1571 to balance out at 220.5p with prices reaching 258.8p for 51kg Beltex from North Lurg, Midmar and £138 for 90kg Suffolk’s from Muirton, Corse, whilst the 1638 cast sheep peaked at £194.50 for a Beltex ram from Broadwater, Skene.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts enjoyed a buoyant trade for their sale of of 3100 prime lambs with prices reaching 331p for Beltex from M and M Byrne, Thornthwai­te Close, Wigton, whilst Texels sold to a top of £154 from RM and P Armstrong, Oaklands, Longtownt, to cash in at 238.1p with an SQQ of 236.1p.

The 4888 cast ewes and rams witnessed ewes sell to £278 for Texels from A and HC Smith, Crumhaughh­ill, Hawick, with rams to £235 for Texels from Crumhaughh­ill, Hawick.

Lanark

CATTLE sold well at Lawrie and Symington’s weekly sale, with Limousin heifers to 308p and £1999 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees Farm, Canonbie.

British Blue bullocks peaked at 304p and £1854 from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall Farm, Cupar, while beef cows sold to £2010 and 242p from Messrs Wight, Midlock Farm, Biggar.

A larger show of 3905 lambs topped at £143 and 304p for Beltex from Lawrie, Grangehall, to level at 233p with an SQQ of 233p.

The 2605 cast sheep peaked at £256 from Pate, Toxside, with Blackfaces to £80 from Laing, Perryflatt.

Quoybrae

A large show of 1222 prime lambs were forward at Aberdeen and Northern Marts which sold to average 225.3p with prices peaking at 278.4p and £142 for a 51kg Cheviot from Greenvale, Rattar.

The 1220 feeding ewes and rams balanced out at £74.67 having sold to £197.50 for a Texel ewe from Pentland View, Barrock.

St Boswells

HARRISON and Hetheringt­on’s prime cattle sale witnessed bullocks and heifers averaging at 277p and 281p, respective­ly.

Upper Nisbet and Penston led the bullocks at £1903.84 and 314p, while heifers sold to £1932 and 322p from Bee Edge.

Kersknowe and Saughtree topped the cast cows at £1984.40 and 237p.

Texels dominated the prime lamb sale which averaged 241.44p and topped at £149 from Crumhaughh­ill and 284.4p from Horsley Hill.

Sale of cast ewes attained £137 with a Texel ewe from Grey Peel.

Ayr

CRAIG Wilson Marts had sold 3047 sheep comprising 2405 prime lambs which balanced out at 236.8p and prices topping at £136 for a pen of nine Suffolks from AD McFarlane and Sons, Clonbeith or to 305p for a pen of Beltex off Tormitchel­l Farms.

The 621 cast sheep peaked at £210 for a Texel ewe from W Kennedy, Lyonston with boys reaching £155 for Suffolks from A Currie, Fisherton.

On Tuesday, heifers sold to 301p and £1790.95 for a Limousin off Messrs Smith, North Boig, to average 264.7p, with bullocks to 296p for a Limousin off North Boig and £1828.80 for another of the same from T Miller and Son, High Gameshill, to balance out at 212.5p.

Bulls sold to 236p for a Limousin off South Hourat or £1515.10 for a Saler off Cuil.

Dingwall

DINGWALL and Highland Marts’ sale of heifers balanced out at 247.2p per kg having sold to 271p and £1504.05 for a 555kg Limousin cross from Drummond Farm, Evanton.

The firm also sold 630 prime lambs to cash in at 223.8p with prices reaching 275.8p for a Beltex cross from Druid Temple Farm, Inverness and £133 for a Beltex cross from Gaich Farms, Dulnain Bridge.

The 369 cast sheep sold to £125 for a pair of Charolais crosses from Inshes Farm, Inverness.

Castle Douglas

ON Tuesday, Wallets Marts sold 1342 prime lambs to average 228.43p with a top of £130 for Beltex from Messrs Jack, Dornells Estate or to 265.1p for Beltex from Messrs Clement, Borgue House.

The 499 cast sheep peaked at £220.00 for Texel ewes from Messrs Veitch, Low Creoch, with Mules to £113 from Messrs McTurk, Barbusk, with Blackface to £83 from Messrs McCulloch, Glentoo.
