Gretnahouse Smiler, put a smile on the Houston family’s faces too, when he made 10,000gns. The bull from Gretnahouse, Gretna, which stood second in his class, is by Westcarse Jimmy and out of Gretnahouse Nannabel. He sold to WJ Morrison, Fairburm, Macduff, Banffshire.
Pre-sale judge, Duncan MacGregor, of the Corrie herd, Burnhead, Kilsyth, sold his sole entry for 10,000gns in a two-way split to Jim Muirhead, Firhills and Raymond Irvine, Inverlochy, Tomintoul. Corrie Stampede is a son of the French bull, Harestone Oscar, out of Corrie Lilo, which goes back to Gavinburn Harry.
The final 10,000gns sale came for the reserve male champion, Balthayock Sebastian from Major David Walter and son Neil, Balthayock, Perth. He is by Balthayock Loyalist, out of Balthayock Lucia which goes back to Ugie Echo and sold to Jan Boomaars, Heathdown, The Ridge, Woldingham.
Balmyle Solution, which stood fifth in his class for the Bill Bruce, Balmyle, Meigle, went on to make 9500gns when selling to WW and I Bruges, Laighwood, Dunkeld, Perthshire. A son of the 46,000gns Balthayock Minstrel, he is out of the heifer, Balmyle Olga.
Females sold to 5500gns for the female champion, Harestone Royalgem from Neil and Stuart Barclay, Harestone, Insch. This rising two-year-old is a daughter of the 40,000gns Maerdy Newman, out of Harestone Locket. She was knocked down to Kevin Watret, Maulscastle, Cummertrees, Annan.
