ISLAVALE MINT from the Stronachs sold for 18,000gns 2020, for 14,000gns, he was purchased by Martin Birse, for Pitgaveny Farms, Elgin.

Matching that 10,000gns bid was Islavale Maximus – an April, 2021-born AI son of the Ex92-rated Dermotstow­n Delboy. Out of the Ex91classi­fied Islavale Chloe, he was snapped up by A and J Craig, Craigton, Castle Douglas.

The overall champion, Denizes Monty 21, from MA Barlow and Sons, Leyland, Lancashire, made 20,000gns when selling across the water to HJW and JC Moore, Omagh, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

No stranger to the show ring, this January, 2021born entry was also junior champion at this year’s Royal Highland Show. Backed by home-bred genetics on both sides, his sire is Denizes Hamish, with the dam being Denizes Trixie-Belle 6 – a daughter of the 21,000gns Auchoracha­n Wizard.

On the credit side, Delfur Farms took 16,000gns for Delfur Maverick which sold jointly to Bruce Lambie, Fallhills, Penicuik, and Dorothy Moffat, Innerwick, Dunbar.

Brought out by the new farm manager, Garry Patterson, this March, 2021born bull is by Woodhall Instinct – a bull bought here for 10,000gns as the junior and reserve overall champion – and out of Delfur Denise.

Next in the trade stakes at 11,000gns was JC MacIver’s Coltfield Murray, from Forres.

This May 2021-born bull is a son of Rockytop Invader, a bull purchased here in October, 2018, for 14,000gns and out of the home-bred Coltfield Izzie G.

Having already been out on parade throughout the summer after standing fourth in his class at both the Black Isle and Nairn shows, he was knocked down to G Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaois.

Iain Green’s Corskie herd, from Garmouth, matched that 11,000gns bid with the pen leader, Corskie Mikah. Another with a credible show record, he boasts a reserve junior male and reserve inter-breed beef breeder champion at this year’s Royal Highland Show, as well as junior male and reserve overall junior at the Scottish National Show.

Sired by the 10,000gns Kilbride Farm Haka and out of Corskie Elissa, Mikah sold jointly to J Milne and Son, Oldwhat Mains, New Deer, and David, Ross and Fiona Shand, Broomhill, Ellon.

Mr Green was back in the money selling Corskie Monarch for 10,000gns to J Barclay and Son, Fordyce, Banff. Another by Kilbride Farm Haka, he is bred from Corskie Highness and stood fourth in his class at the Royal Highland.

Messrs Cruikshank, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeensh­ire, forked out 7500gns for the January, 2021-born Corskie Meldrew. Again sired by Kilbride Farm Haka, he is out of one of the best cows in the herd, Corskie Hyacinth.

JC MACIVER sold Coltfield Murry 21 for 11,000gns

ISLAVALE MATRIX went under the hammer at 13,000gns

Monarch, from Kings Lane, Sway attained 8500gns. Fifth in his class at the presale show, he is backed by home-bred genetics on both sides with his sire being Sway Kingsman onto Sway Babycham. Final bidder was Jim McLaren, Dargill, Crieff.

Two bulls went under the hammer at 8000gns apiece, with the first being Popes Matchmaker, consigned by Jimmy and Vikki Wood, of the Popes herd, from Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Reserve overall champion at the pre-sale show, Matchmaker is by Denzies Impressive, a bull bought here in October 2018 for 12,000gns that has bred sons to 9000gns, while the dam is Popes Whispers Della. With an impressive show career at the Great Yorkshire, which saw him take the junior and male breed honours as well as and reserve junior inter-breed, he headed home with S Gummow, Higher Killaworge­y Farm, Blackcross.

Robert MacGregor’s Team herd, from Craigend, in Perth, secured the second 8000gns sale for the April, 2021-born bull, Team MacGregor. He is a son of Lopemede Gregg which was purchased privately in 2016 and out of the home-bred Team Melody. He sold to Snaigow Farming, Blairgowri­e, Perthshire.

Three bulls sold for 7000gns, with two of those coming from Reece and Andrew Simmers’ Backmuir herd, Keith. Purchased by J and R Stanger, Orkney, was the March, 2021-born

Backmuir Mustang, by Wolfstar Jimmy Choo, out of Starline Kreole.

The similarly-aged Backmuir MacAllan, which is by Wolfstar Just Do It and out of Fallhills Ivory, made the same money when knocked down to M Blackhall and Sons, Milton of Durris, Banchory.

The last of the 7000gns bids came for the May 2021born Strathisla Mandarin, from Perthshire breeder, Adrian Ivory’s Meiglebase­d herd which sold to to WJ Hollingswo­rth, South Yorkshire. Sired by the Ex93 classified Dirnanean Grafter, he is out of Strathisla Gillian’s Geraldine.

Females peaked at 6000gns for Gavin Brown’s 15-month-old heifer, Springfiel­d Minstrel from Penicuik and purchased by Jimmy and Vikki Wood, Popes. Her pedigree features the 6000gns Islavale Jabba, purchased here in 2019 and Woodhall Cheeky.
