Tallent major reduction tops the dairy trade at 4600gns

A major reduction of the Tallent herd on behalf of Anthony Brough, North Lodge, Tallentire, Cockermout­h, produced the lead prices at the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club sale at Carlisle, which saw prices peak at 4600gns.

Selling at this price was Tallent Samaritan Sabrina 2, a recently calved heifer purchased by Messrs Callion, Great Clifton, Workington. She is by Parkhurst Samaritan and out of the VG86-classified dam, Tallent Charley Sabrina.

Second top price was 3700gns given for Tallent Samaritian, a second calver purchased by Messrs Gilmour from Maybole, Ayrshire. Classified VG86 she is sired by Parkhouse Samaritan and out of the VG86 classified, Tallen Observer Gayle.

Tallent Fynn Gaye made 3300gns to Messrs Innes and Sons, Auldearn, Nairn, who got for their money a Bomaz Fynn daughter out of Tallent Charley Gaye 6, which is classified VG85.

Messrs Wilson, Workington, Cumbria, went to 3200gns for Tallent Sassafras Gaye 5. Bred from the VG87 dam, Tallent Goldwyn Gaye, she is sired by ABS Sassafras.

A joint top price of 3400gns was achieved at the club sale which saw 10 heifers sell for more than 3000gns. First to hit that bracket was Joylan History Jamaica from Peter Kemp, Cairdhillo­ck, Kingswell, Aberdeen. A daughter of Lindenrigh­t History, out of the VG85 dam, Joylan Byway Jamaica, she was knocked down to Messrs Coulthurst, Hornslane, Goosnargh, Preston.

Wormanby Rapid Ruby hit the same price for David and Louise Hodgson of Wormanby. Burgh by Sands, Carlisle. She result of a mating between the AI sire, St Gen R-Haze Rapid and Wormanby Kimball Ruby, and found a new home in Lockerbie with Messrs Millar, Kirkpatric­k Fleming.

Just behind, on 3300gns was Stowbeck Attico Lillibet from Skirwith Hall Farms, Skirwith, Penrith, purchased by Messrs Coulthurst, Hornslane, again. For their money, they got a heifer by Gen-I-Beq Attico Red out of the VG85classi­fied dam, Stowbeck Lotto Lillibet.

The same buyers went to 3200gns for Stowbeck Dealmaker Jeanie, another from the same home, but sired by Claynook Dealmaker, and out of Stowbeck Lambda Jeanie.

Matching that 3200gns bid was Espland Apps Alexis 2 from DI and AA Cannon, Espland Hill, Brampton, Appleby In Westmorlan­d. A Lindenrigh­t Apps daughter, she is out of Espland Unix Alexis and travels up to Inverness with Messrs Innes and Sons, Auldearn, Nairn.
