Scots star at Roscommon

FEARNA Molly ET, a rising two-year-old heifer, secured the lead price of €13,200 at the Irish Simmental Cattle Society’s Autumn Premier show and sale at Roscommon Mart.

This December 2020-born entry from Gerry Neenan, Ballyhauni­s, Co Mayo stood senior heifer champion at the pre-sale show, judged by Dumfriessh­ire breeder, Clive Houldey of the Manorpark herd. A Curaheen Gunshot daughter, she is out of Fearna Vienna, and found a new home with Joe Wilson, Newry, Co Down, buying for his Ballinlare Farm herd.

Selling at €11,400, Coose Merle P from the Coose draft sale of John and Ronan Tuohy, Whitegate, Co Galway, sold to Chris Traynor of the Kilmore herd in Co Armagh. Sired by Tulla Jaguar P, she is out of the Curaheen Drifter-sired dam, Curaheen Flame.

Bruce Lambie of Fallhills herd, Penicuik, went to €10,000 for Coose Juggler P, a February 2021-born heifer by Tulla Jaguar P out of an Auroch Deuter dam.

Another from the same home, Coose Negotiator made €9600, selling jointly to Gerald and Morag Smith of the Drumsleed herd, Laurenceki­rk and Robert MacGregor of the Team herd, Perth. Their purchase, a homozygous polled bull, is by Tulla Jaguar P and out of the Promi sired-dam, Coose Hermajesty P.

Bulls averaged €4640 with a 58% clearance, having sold to €11,100 for Lissadell Nailer ET from Kieran and Paul Mullarkey, Ballinaful, Co Sligo. This August 2021born entry is a son of Kilbride Farm Delboy, out of Tawley Gretta, and was knocked down to Gavin Hayes from Lisburn, Co Antrim to join his Haystar herd.
