Supercow Delight at Ayr

A bumper quality turnout of cattle was forward for the West of Scotland Dairy Show, staged at Craig Wilson’s Ayr Market, where judge Luke Lancaster had a busy night selecting the top winners in the Ayrshire, Holstein and Red and White sections.

Holstein champion was the second calver, Mossbog Sylvio Beth, a daughter of Villy Sylvio, from G and G Borland, Mauchline, with the reserve honours presented to the supreme heifer, Esquierdo Salvador’s Vetech Pepper Kim, by Delaberge Pepper.

Mungo Bryson, Catrine, was in top form, winning both the Ayrshire and the Red and White sections. Supreme Ayrshire was the heifer in milk, Whiteflat Magic Martha VG87 by Brieryside Magic.

His Highland Show champion, Whiteflat Jordy Lizzie VG88, topped the red and whites, with the blue and white sash presented to the Ex93 fourth calver, Whiteflat DS Cherub, that was champion at Tarbolton Show.

Winning the prestigious West of Scotland Supercow award was Liz Kennedy and her father-in-law’s VG87classified second calver, Stair Galantas Delight, from East Carngillan, Tarbolton, paraded by farm manager Ewan Corbett. Champion at Catrine Show in May, she is by the stock bull, Wormanby Galantas and bred from Stair Bolton Delight Ex93.

Reserve was the interbreed winner from Craigie Show, G and G Borland’s Mossbog Admirer Mandy, by Carldanton Atwood Adrmirer.
