The Scottish Farmer

A podcast for AgriScot’s people

-

AGRISCOT has been one of the hottest events in the UK farming calendar for over two decades – and in a brand-new ‘AgriScot podcast’, listeners will be able to hear from the people who make the event the success it is today.

Podcast host Claire Taylor is fronting the new series which hopes to shine a light on the AgriScot awards and will feature a different farmer every month, sharing their journey through the experience and the impact it has had on their business.

There have been three episodes published so far, with a new episode released monthly.

First up in the series, listeners hear from Robert Neill of Upper Nisbet Farm about his journey from AgriScot Beef Farm of the Year winner in 2012, to his current position as Chair. In the second episode, Louise Nicoll of Newton Farm Holidays reflects on picking up the inaugural award for Diversified Farm of the Year in 2021 and shares how her diversification journey has been key to their survival.

In the most recent episode, farmer John MacInnes from the Isle of Iona, shares some insights on how he balances farming on the island with his other job as trade stand manager, responsible for all the exhibitors at AgriScot.

Ms Taylor commented: “We were so excited to launch the new podcast and share some of the stories of those who have made AgriScot such a success over the years and to focus in on the awards.

“There is a real hesitance amongst farmers to put themselves forward for awards or any form of recognition, but it is so important to celebrate the great work farming is doing and the sector needs strong ambassadors more than ever to communicate what farming has to offer. We hope the series will inspire farmers in years to come to put their hat in to the ring or to support and nominate others to do so.”

You can listen to the new episodes on all the usual platforms including: Apple, Google Play, Spotify and the usual RSS Feeds.
