Rhaeadr lead at Skipton

SKIPTON Auction Mart’s annual autumn weekend show and sale for pedigree Suffolk females witnessed trade peak at 3200gns for the best from the Rhaeadr flock.

Myfyr Evans, Llanrhaead­r in Denbighshi­re, sold his ewe lamb for that top price to A Oare, Hollywell, Flintshire. This Millhouse Magic Touch daughter is out of a ewe by Stockton Snipers Son who has bred rams to 40,000gns.

The champion from the same home came in the form of another ewe lamb which made 1800gns when the judge, Kate Crossley, Cobclough flock in Barkisland, Halifax, backed her decision and bought her.

She is sired by the 90,000gns Ardlea Arbennig and out of a home-bred ewe that goes back to Sttrathbog­ie Stradivari­us.

Stephen Bolland of the Wharfe flock, Skipton, sold gimmers to 1750gns and 1500gns, both by Solwaybank Cracker. The dearest of the two stood first place in the show bred from a Strathbogi­e Supershot ewe she sold to Scottish soil with Messrs Fitzsimon of Shawhead, Dumfries. The latter found a new home with Simon Bennett of Sildsen.

The same home sold ewe lambs to 1500gns when the hammer fell to JM Robinson and Son of Grimsby.

Andrew Morton, Denny, Stirling went to 1600gns for the third prized ewe, a January 2020 born from Steve Buckley of the Sitlow flock, Dove Holes, Buxton. A daughter of Logiedurno

Sonny Bill, out of a home-bred dam and scanned carrying triplets to the 15,000gns Sportsmans Black Label.
