WF success for Greenhill and Black families
THE Clydesdale Horse Society annual Winter Fair, last Saturday at Lanark Market, saw 41 entries forward.
The show saw the return of the prestigious Champion of Champions class, open to champions from any affiliated show throughout the season.
Coming out on top and adding yet another title to her name was World Clydesdale Show supreme champion, Tulloes Emily, from Jim and Louise Greenhill.
Jim is the current Clydesdale Horse Society president and bred this filly out of his home-bred mare, Tulloes Lady Jane and with the father being the Cawdor Cup-winning stallion, Arradoul Balvenie. This twoyear-old filly was selected by judge, Irvine Anderson, after qualifying at Fife Show earlier this year.
Winning the overall champion and senior champion at the Winter Fair and taking home the reserve in the Champion of Champions was Collessie Alanna, from Ronnie Black.
No stranger to the silverware, this filly – another sired by Arradoul Balvenie and out of Roughlands Jasmine – has won numerous awards this year, including being champion at Perth and Aberdeen shows. Judging the Winter Fair was the society’s past president and former editor of The SF, Alasdair Fletcher.
The foal classes were again strongly supported by exhibitors. Shielhill Platinum Queen took home the foal championship for Robert Sibbald. This filly is out of the renowned show mare, Sheilhill Diamond Jubilee and sired by Macfin Starlight.
Reserve in the foal section was another from Collessie.
This time it was the turn of Ronnie’s junior filly, Collessie Belinda, which had a successful start to her show career when champion a few weeks ago at North of Fife Foal Show. She is by Collessie Monarch and out of Glenbervie Duchess.
