Threshfield Holsteins reach £3000 at Skipton
A second production sale of predominantly young, fresh and close to calving cows and heifers from the Dean family’s Threshfield Holstein herd at Skipton Auction Mart, saw prices peak at £3000, on Monday.
The sale, from the locallybased herd from Toft House Farm, was the first since the previous event in 2017 when the herd was reduced by 200 head across all ages.
It was topped by the herd favourite, Threshfield Mogul Matilda, which recently scored VG85-2yr, and sold giving 32kg per day to Brian and Judith Moorhouse, Bell Busk – current National Premier Pedigree herd
Two descendants of the Dalesend herd both made £2900. The first, Threshfield Achieve Spottie, a VG85 early September second calver giving 37kg, served on November 13 and sexed to Dealmaker, was one of four going to West Yorkshire buyer Mark Goodall, Tong, Bradford.
At the same price was one of a trio bought by the Metcalfe family at High Birstwith – Threshfield Apps
TOP SELLER
Gail, a first lactation daughter of Lindenright Apps, whose dam also sold at £2000. Her third dam was an Ex cow bought at the 2011 Newtonle-Willows-based Dalesend herd dispersal.

Lighthouse VG86 and giving 40kg in her second lactation, made £2700 to William Oldfield buying for the family’s Whinhill herd at Gisburn.
A strong trade throughout saw the first lot, a fresh calver make £1700, right through the 34 lots forward until the hammer fell on the final entry, an in-calf heifer from the Elegance family due December to the Hereford, making £2050. No fewer than 25 broke through the £2000 barrier, to average £2233.
