Packed out West of Scotland Holstein Herds’
A phenomenal 29 herds took part in the new West of Scotland Super Six Winter Herds competition, judged by Lanarkshire breeder, Jimmy Baillie, who visited herds throughout Ayrshire, over three days, to find his top winners.
The competition which was founded by Robbie Scott of the Nethervalley herd in 2021, attracted some 162 breeders and enthusiasts from throughout Scotland, England and Wales to the annual dinner for the presentation of awards.
Best heifer having had at least one calving and part of the team (McCaskie Agriculture Award) – 1, Myremill’s Arrnaview Pepper Delight; 2, Nethervalley’s Vetech Pepper Kim; 3, Croftfoot’s Wormanby Royal Rachel; 4, West Spittal’s Weststar Attico Carol Red; 5, Boylston’s Vetech Excalibar Snowdrift; 6, Parkmill’s Glenvalley Doc Glory.
Best cow having had at least two calvings and part of the team (County Vets Award) – 1, Whiteflat’s Whiteflat Solomon Judy; 2, Newlands’ Kilmaurs Dalliance Paula 3; 3, Nethervalley’s Nethervalley Kingpin Jenny; 4, Holehouse’s Holehouse Aladdin Red Rose; 5, Dormieston’s Cambus Piston Mayb; 6, Mossbog’s Mossbog Silvio Beth.
Highest placed home-bred team (Robert McInnes Memorial Award) – 1, Whiteflat; 2, Darnlaw.
Team of six cows or heifers all having had at least one calving (William Scott Memorial Award) – 1, Boylston; 2, Nethervalley; 3, Whiteflat; 4, Darnlaw; 5, Perryston; 6, Newlands.
Exhibitor with most points (Lockharts Law Award) – 1, Nethervalley; 2, Boylston; 3, Whiteflat; 4, Newlands; 5, Myremill; 6= Perryston and Mossbog.
