Angry Adams questions why time was added on as Celts grab leveller

ROSS COUNTY manager Derek Adams last night raged at the officials who played three minutes of injury time as Celtic escaped with a point in the dying seconds of action at Dingwall.

A Kris Commons tap-in seconds before the final whistle cancelled out Richard Brittain’s 49th-minute free-kick for the SPL new boys.

There was barely time to kick-off again — and the disappoint­ment felt like defeat to County’s players, even though they stretched their unbeaten league run to an astonishin­g 37 matches.

Adams was baffled as to where that amount of time could possibly have been accumulate­d during the second half.

He went on to reveal he had been informed by fourth official John McKendrick that the reason for the time added on was that the match ball had not been returned to the field of play quickly enough during the second half.

Celtic made two substituti­ons, the home side did not make any changes and no player required treatment for an injury during that time.

‘There were three minutes of injury time and I don’t know where they came from,’ said Adams. ‘We didn’t make any substituti­ons, there were no injuries in the second half — the assistant referee told me it was because the ball didn’t come back quickly enough.

‘We’re not allowed ball rotation in the SPL, so why they would add a minute and a half for that I have no idea. It’s only if the ball goes out of the stadium you’re allowed ball rotation.
