AS grassroots Lib Dems protest over the Coalition’s bedroom tax, the party hopes to save on hotels by billeting members in other members’ spare rooms during next month’s Glasgow conference. An internal report reveals: ‘We are looking at schemes that provide access to a spare bedroom in the house of a local member.’ But one party MP opined: ‘If there’s one thing that will stop me going to conference, it’s having to lodge with another Lib Dem.’ RECENTLY recalling his days on the campaign trail, former Labour MP Tam Dalyell told how at one election he was denounced as an idiot. ‘I may be an idiot,’ replied the man called ‘Daft Tam’ by opponents. ‘But there are tens of thousands of idiots out there who need represente­d.’
