Brown: Fans have every right to call for my head

-

UNDER-FIRE Dundee boss John Brown admitted fans had every right to call for his removal, but still vowed to carry on the fight for promotion in the wake of an abject display.

The Dark Blues manager was barracked by the fed-up home support at the end of yesterday’s draw with the part-time Wasps which ruined their hopes of a return to the top of the table.

Brown’s boys blew a golden opportunity to regain pole position as Ben Gordon’s last-gasp equaliser cancelled out Ryan Conroy’s second-half penalty opener for the hosts.

Brown, whose off-form title hopefuls are now three league games without a win, said: ‘The fans are right. They’re calling for my head at the end and I don’t blame them.

‘It’s not new to me and, of course, I’ll battle on. But the penny has got to drop soon or else we’ll miss out.’

New Alloa boss Barry Smith came back to haunt his old club as Gordon struck that dramatic late equaliser.

Dundee took the lead in 68 minutes when Peter MacDonald drove into the box and went down under Michael Doyle’s challenge.

Referee Craig Charleston pointed to the spot and Conroy slotted home a textbook penalty.

But, with the last kick of the ball, Gordon rifled home a low shot.

Goal hero Gordon said: ‘It’s a great result — especially with the new manager coming in.’
