Jason flies out as Rosie flies in... to pose by her selfie
SHE’S one of the world’s top models and commands admiring glances from a thousand paces – but sadly, in Cannes, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s forlorn instagram picture spoke a thousand words.
Because I can reveal her romance with on/off boyfriend Jason Statham is suddenly more off than on. He was conspicuous by his absence as M&S model Rosie posed alone for an Instagram photo on the balcony of the famous Martinez Hotel last week.
Indeed, Transformers star Jason, 46, was back in Los Angeles, having left the festival just as Rosie arrived.
Jason’s friend Jane Owen saw him while he was in Cannes promoting his movie Expendables 3 and confirmed to me he and Rosie were going through one of their frequent ‘off’ phases.
‘They split two weeks ago,’ the well-known LA PR told me at the Magnum 25th anniversary party. ‘I don’t know why, but they are not together anymore.’
Another film industry insider whispered: ‘It has been the talk of Cannes that they have split. It seemed so odd to time their trips to such a romantic place in a way that meant they wouldn’t cross paths. She arrived the exact day he left so they wouldn’t have to bump into each other.’
Spending time on the Riviera away from Rosie didn’t dampen Jason’s partying. He posed for lots of selfies, like this one at the Belvedere Vodka party with singer Rita Ora, before heading to the Gotha Club to lounge in a VIP booth with a group of scantily clad women.
Rosie, 27, has reportedly been nonplussed by Jason’s reluctance to propose since they started dating in 2010.
Her spokesman – blaming work commitments for their time apart – did not deny the split. p
