Gallacher scenting the Swede smell of success
STEPHEN GALLACHER is perfectly poised to mount a challenge in this afternoon’s final round of the Nordea Masters in Sweden.
The Bathgate golfer fired a seven-under-par 65 to lie just one shot off the lead shared by home favourite Henik Stenson and Englishman Eddie Pepperell.
Stenson shot the best round of the day, an eightunder-par 64, to move to on 13 under overall and lead the way with the world No 346, who shot a 65.
The Swede racked up seven birdies and an eagle two at the seventh alongside one bogey to put himself in pole position after three rounds in Malmo.
Pepperell, 23, whose only professional victory to date came on the Challenge Tour two years ago, said: ‘I had great fun out there. I felt comfortable, really happy with myself.’
Gallacher, who picked up eight birdies and a bogey in his 65, shares second place with Spaniard Alvaro Quiros (66).
Greenock’s Chris Doak had a 69 and is tied for 10th place on eight under.
